There have been indications that Agboola Ajayi, the Ondo Deputy Governor, could be pressured to resign this week.
Ajayi, who was the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidate, lost his bid to rule the state after taking third place in the 10 October governorship election.
In June, he resigned from the ruling All Progressive Congress(APC), joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost the ticket of the party to Eyitayo Jegede before switching to the ZLP where he contested.
According to sources in the House of Assembly and ZLP, the pressure on Ajayi to resign is to avoid unnecessary impeachment.
Ajayi could send in his letter of resignation to the Speaker of the Assembly before the end of this week, some of the sources said.
It was gathered that Ajayi’s top notch colleagues, including a northern governor, were approached to urge him to resign accordingly.
A source confirmed that aggressive steps will be taken to ensure Ajayi is impeached if he fails to tender his resignation letter.
It added that Ajayi’s allies in the Assembly were already plotting to sign the impeachment notice.
