The Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area of Lagos State has been barred from the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), motorcycle operators (Okada) and tricycle operators (Keke Marwa) in the Ajegunle district.
This development was revealed to the press in a statement by the chairman of the council, Fatai Adekunle Ayoola, who noted that the decision is related to ongoing investigations into recent instances of looting, incendiary attacks, and destruction of houses, land, bank facilities, and vehicles within the secretariat of the council.
Ayoola added that until the end of inquiries into the cases, the ban would remain in effect.
According to the local government chief, Poice Hakeem Odumosu’s Lagos State Commissioner, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo), Chairman of the NURTW Lagos Council, other stakeholders and security agents are well engaged in the development.
GIDIANDMIMI recalls that during the violence that was witnessed following the #EndSARS protests, the local council secretariat was set on fire.
