What Buhari Will Think About Before Granting Nnamdi Kanu’s Release Request, Malami

President Muhammadu Buhari prioritizes the interests of Nigerians while making decisions.

AGF Abubakar Malami, Minister of Justice, stated this during one of his speeches on Tuesday, January 4th.

On Tuesday, January 4, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, indicated that President Muhammadu Buhari considers the best interests of all Nigerians before making any decisions.

According to Punch, Malami stated in an interview on Tuesday that this is what the president will examine before approving southeast leaders’ plea for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

President Buhari, he said, will have to consider how approving the request will benefit over 200 million Nigerians.

According to Malami, Buhari has Nigerians’ best interests at heart

Buhari’s unwillingness to approve the electoral change bill was influenced by the same rationale, according to the minister of justice.

“By way of general responses to the two concerns presented: the electoral law issue and the issue relating to Kanu and, by extension, IPOB, what I can tell you for certain is that the President’s decision is fundamentally and at all times based on public interest consideration.”

“In the art of governing, and based on what I’ve learned about President Muhammadu Buhari’s head and heart, consider the 200 million as opposed to the few.”

“By extension, the problem of Kanu would control the President’s choice in terms of whatever request is submitted in terms of the general interest as opposed to narrow sectional interest.”
