Francis Ogunnusi, a deacon of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Onikoko, Abeokuta, Ogun State, reportedly slumped and died during a Sunday service while fighting the “get-rich-quick” mindset.
When the Deacon, also known as the Baale of Onikoko, a village near Panseke, suddenly slumped with a microphone in his hand, the church was thrown into disarray.
A viral video featured the Deacon with an interpreter, warning against the escalating cases of money-making rituals, according to Daily Trust.
“The money you make by criminal means, killing people, drinking human blood; when death comes, it will belong to another individual,” Ogunnusi remarked in Yoruba.
However, as the interpreter continued to try to explain the words in English, the man slumped and caused a ruckus in the church.
He was brought to the Federal Medical Centre in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, where he was pronounced dead, according to reports.
“The man was not the pastor of that church, he was merely an elder,” a congregant told the aforementioned outlet. He was the Onikoko Baale. On Sunday, though, he was the one who gave the sermon.
“He was talking about mortality and people who profit from the deaths of others. He collapsed all of a sudden. He was transported to the FMC, but he succumbed to his injuries. We have no idea what happened. I was terrified. Everything was thrown off. We just went home after sharing the grace.”
The insider was unable to clarify whether the deceased was suffering from any health issues.
