In a Kwara rivalry cult clash, a man was killed.

In Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, one individual was shot dead as rival cult members clashed.

The incident occurred near Oja-Gboro Junction in the metropolis at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

The victim was alleged to have been shot in the head from a short distance.

“The sound of gunfire spurred the rushing of cops on surveillance patrol of Gambari area of Ilorin to the place of the sound,” said state police spokesman Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident.

“At the scene, the body of an unnamed adult was discovered lying in a pool of blood, with a gunshot wound to his head.” The sufferer was taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital as soon as possible (UITH).

“A search of the victim’s body was done in an attempt to identify him; nothing was found in his pockets to identify him except some weeds presumed to be Indian hemp.” The body, however, has been lodged for autopsy at the same hospital mortuary,” Okasanmi added.
