Orlando Julius, a legendary Nigerian musician, died on Friday, April 15, 2022, at the age of 79. Lady Latoya, the veteran’s widow, verified his death.
Bimbo Esho, the Managing Director of the Evergreen Music Company Limited, announced the death of the Afro Highlife legend, saying she received the tragic news from Orlando’s wife at 3 a.m.

“Bimbo Daddy has passed on,” she said.

“This was the message I came across when I woke up at 3 a.m. to check my WhatsApp page. Lady Latoya, Orlando Julius’ gorgeous and supportive wife, sent me a message.”

“At the age of 79, Orlando Julius, a native of Ijebu Ijesha, succumbed to death’s chilly grip and breathed his last few hours ago.

“One of Nigeria’s fathers of Afro/Highlife music, a gentleman, and a great saxophonist, we will miss him.”

“May the soul of Daddy Orlando Julius travel safely.” May God provide the entire Ekemode family the strength to face this unforgivable loss.”

Orlando was a saxophone, vocalist, and bandleader who was first introduced to music at a young age by his mother. Ijebu Ijesha was his hometown.
