Farah Dagogo, a Rivers State gubernatorial candidate who has been detained by police since last Thursday, has been taken to the hospital.
Dagogo is a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship ticket in Rivers State, and was imprisoned on the state government’s orders.
He was caught a day after the state government declared him sought for allegedly disrupting the PDP’s vetting of candidates for State Assembly seats in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
He has now been remanded in police custody by a magistrate court in Port Harcourt.
Dagogo complained of stomach and chest issues, according to his media aide Ibrahim Lawal, before being transported to the hospital by the police, where he is now undergoing treatment.
“Hon. Doctor Farah Dagogo has been transported to the hospital by the Police,” the statement said on Wednesday. He had problems with his stomach and chest. He is currently undergoing treatment.
“As the situation develops, we will provide updates.”
